Personalities
You must know who you are and how you act upon another person's actions.I don't find a lot of people who make a personality for their character, for example, Very many people that are a mother to some cubs, just protect their cubs. There is no other behaviour there,
At least I haven't seen any.
I think that this could make roleplaying a bit more exciting, maybe more fun but it could also make it irritating for some people, why? Maybe somebody would make their character a lazy and/or grumpy
little thing and never get up from sleep.
Unpopular actions
These are uncommon actions that I have seen only a few people using.Marking your territory is one, I haven't used this one much.
Even though it wouldn't do anything to protect you / your cubs, kits, pups, chicks / your clan, pack, bouquet, herd / or really anything else, It's something I would use to show my group that i care about where we live and that it's not just somewhere, a den and territory is inportant in real life just as it is in a realistic roleplay.
If you are a lynx and have a lynx based group, I would recommend pretending to rub your fur on things or peeing on things as such, rubbing your fur on things would just be the play animation beside anything ( like a tree or rock, bush ) , I don't really have any commands to show you're rubbing your fur to mark, Peeing on things would kinda be the same except you could also use the wave animation. This time you could say ' across the water + puzzle shard/piece ' to tell you are peeing in a place to mark, it could be vague and your group could not understand but it's all I got right now.
If you have a pack of wolves by your side, the same except I wouldn't do the 'rubbing your fur on things ' one, you can but it would be hard to show.
A pheasant/eagle would probably only pee to mark their spot, you could also use the play animation to scatter your feathers that have your scent. It could be dangerous as a pheasant though, anything could try to hunt you while you are on ground. ( of course any eagle can't do a play animation as of right now. )
I don't think a herd of goats/deer would have a territory, but they can have a common feeding/grazing ground. If anyone has any ideas for goats/deer, please tell me in the comments.
Comfortable temperatures
This section is a more realistic one, It includes stuff about temperatures a character can survive to you, to summarise, an arctic animal, like a fox or any other animal with a white skin, can only survive cold temperatures because of it's thick fur/feathers.If it is too hot for it, it can boil and poof.
A animal with short fur/less feathers can get too cold and also poof. This one would probably happen more often to cubs, kits, pups and chicks as they can't make their own warmth like adults, staying in a den and using the fire emote or lying with the children of yours will probably warm them up until they are ready to go out into the cold.
How I and others use the special emotes ( The fire emote, etc. )
If you don't own or know what the special emotes are yet, they are:- The sketch skin emote - Comes with the Art of Shelter DLC along with 1 skin for each animal except the Wolf.
- The counting flower emote - Comes with the Blossom comic DLC along with 1 skin each for the Lynx and lynx cub.
- The fire emote - Comes with Shelter 2 : Mountains.
- The Lonesome Fog emote - Comes with the interactive Lonesome Fog virtual book.
- The Rain cloud and Moon emote - Comes with the Interactive Fables from the Den virtual book.
- The normal and alternative Lynx yowls - Comes with both the Shelter 2 and Shelter 2 : Mountains soundtrack.
- The Lynx cub yowl - Comes with the Shelter 2 : Paws soundtrack.
- The Badger howl - Comes with the Shelter 1 Soundtrack.
- The Badger cub howl - Comes with the Meadow soundtrack DLC.
Starting with the Sketch emote:
I and mostly everyone who owns this emote uses it to show their spirit is going away when they poof.
I don't see many people use this emote to show they are sneaking up on prey because most people, who have selected a prey animal, run away before the hunter can pounce on them, and if they are lucky, the person who is the prey runs away anyway, Which I find irritating. But of course, there are some people who do play by the rules and poof in order to be eaten.
I avoid players who are prey animals because chasing after a rabbit is really time consuming, like come on who wants to chase a animal that is the speed of light, tell me honestly now.
The counting flower is also mostly used as a herb to heal animals,
I try to use it to teach any type of child hunting. All of the time,They don't understand what I'm trying to tell them so I leave it alone.
I and some other people use the fire emote as an item of warmth, I mostly use it if I'm in the autumn or winter biome.
I also use it as a hard barrier against predators or so my children can't get out the den if I'm a mom, Sometimes works, I guess it's effective?
I don't really use the Lonesome Fog emote, I can't find any other use for it other than a blanket.
I'm not too sure if it's a commonly used emote in the RP Grove either, Sorry!
I use the Rain cloud and Moon emote for cleaning mud off, I also use it as drinking water when I'm not close to any source of water.
Not too sure what everyone else uses it for.
I use all the yowls and howls for gaining attention, Doesn't really work very well.
They are also used as just fun by many people. The Wolf has a special action that is a howl, it's used the same way.
