Stoneshard Beginners Basics Guide

Stoneshard Beginners Basics Guide
So you've just cleared the prologue dungeon and you're ready for adventure uh? Here's a bunch of things you should know:
  1. You can only save the game in Inns and camps with an interactable bed, so plan your exploration trips accordingly
  2. Sometimes there are multiple ways to interact with objects, don't forget to right click to see the options!
  3. Replenish food and water whenever you can, to refill your water supply right click on on any source of water and you'll get both a drink and a refill option.
  4. Remember that you can heal by resting, right click on yourself and select rest!
  5. Keep a look at your HP bar, if you can't heal all your HP back because the bar looks capped before the max level you have one or more body parts that need to be treated with balms, leeches or other healing items
  6. LOOK AT YOUR MAP! You should have a map in the inventory, I missed it my first time around and spent more time I'm comfortable admitting roaming around getting ganked by bears and wolves. The map doesn't tell you where you are, use roads and other unique places to figure out where you are if you get lost.If for any reason you drop or sell the map you can buy another one from the elder. You can now access the map by pressing M.
  7. Always travel diagonally in the overworld when you can. The map is divided in squares, so by traveling diagonally you travel x1.7 times faster than going in a straight line (it's math!) by going at the corner of a screen you can easily travel to the next diagonal screen by going left/right one screen then immediately up/down the other screen. Traveling following the screen borders is also safer.
  8. Where's the damn elder? He's on the first floor of the barrack, the biggest building in the village, the ones with guards on the ground floor. Talk with him and take both jobs, you can switch the active quest in the quest menu.
  9. Stay away from bears at the beginning (level 1-2), they're OP.
  10. Don't forget to visit the herbalist in the village and buy splints, bandages and balms, you'll need them!

RimWorld Laws of War Guide

RimWorld Laws of War Guide

Legal and Illegal Weaponry

The general protocol for weapons is "Do not cause unnecessary suffering". Weapons that cripple someone without killing are almost always a war crime, and weapons that slowly kill and painfully kill an enemy combatant are generally going to find their way onto the same list.

1) Chemical weapons are a war crime. These refer to gases that are poisonous or cause choking, as well as other weapons that use gases to kill. Mustard gas is an example. Crowd control gases such as tear gas are permitted, but only for domestic riot control.
In addition to being illegal to use, chemical weapons are also illegal to research, build, store, give, or sell to others.

2) Biological weapons are a war crime. This refers to microorganisms being used as a weapon of war, such as giving people blankets infected with smallpox or flinging plague victims into a city. They do not have to target humans, and weapons targeting animals or plants still qualify as biological weapons.
Like chemical weapons, they also cannot legally be researched, built, stored, given, or sold to others.

3) A weapon with non-metal fragments is a war crime. This means things such as plastic bullets or grenades which fire non-metal shrapnel. This is because there is no way to find the fragments easily, which causes unreasonable suffering to soldiers they are used against.

4) Anti-personnel land mines are a war crime... unless you're the United States, Russia, China, India, or one of 28 other UN member states. This was prohibited by the Ottawa Treaty, and Wikipedia has a nice little map on which countries did or did not sign this. That being said, those which did not sign often have other restrictions on what does or doesn't go.
An anti-personnel land mine is one which is designed to kill people rather than vehicles.

5) Incendiary weapons are a war crime... if there might be civilians in the area. An incendiary weapon is a thing which is primarily designed to start fires. An example of this is a flamethrower or white phosphorous.
If the weapon is napalm, it comes with the additional restriction of only being okay if the enemy is using plant cover to stay hidden.

6) Cluster munitions are a war crime. If it releases a large number of fragments for injuring people in a wide area, it's illegal. This is because they are rather good at killing innocent civilians and filling an area with unexploded ordnance, or UXOs.

7) Laser weapons are illegal... if they are used to blind people. This refers to laser weapons which are solely used to blind a combatant rather than kill them. If the laser weapon is mainly meant for murder but also sometimes causes blindness to its target in its attempts to kill them, it is perfectly legal.

Prisoners of War

A Prisoner of War is a captured lawful combatant. Lawful combatants are members of one of the two warring armed forces, and excludes medics and chaplains. They are legally allowed to fight in a war, and are entitled to become a POW if they surrender. A full list of what is or is not a lawful combatant is on this wikipedia page.

The following treatment of POWs is required:

1) The POWs must be treated in a humane fashion. They must be respected as human beings.

2) They must be given the opportunity to inform their families and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) of their capture.

3) They must be allowed to communicate with their relatives and within reason receive packages from them.

4) They must be given a sufficient amount of food, water, housing, and medical care. Your 1x2 rooms and raw meat aren't going to cut it, here.

5) They must be paid for any work that they do, and that work cannot be degrading or dangerous. They cannot be forced to work on anything related to the war.

6) They must be released shortly after the conflict ends.

7) They do not need to give any information outside of their name, age, and rank, and should not be compelled to do so.

Of course, these only apply to a legal combatant. While an illegal combatant is still to be given them until given a fair trial, afterwards they are subject to the enemy nation's full justice system.

Other Parts of the Laws of War

1) Harm caused to civilians has to be proportional to the military gain of the operation or tactics harming them. Bombing a city to cripple industrial capabilities and destroy military bases within is acceptable, bombing a city as a fun afternoon activity or to get that blood lust mood bonus isn't.

2) In order to be a lawful combatant, soldiers must follow certain criteria. This includes having a uniform, being recognizable at a distance as being a combatant, and not committing war crimes.

3) Combatants need a commanding officer, unless the conflict was so sudden that one could not be chosen beforehand. This officer can be held accountable for any war crimes committed under their command.

4) It is illegal to attack doctors, hospital ships, or ambulances bearing several protected symbols.
These include:
  • The Red Cross
  • The Red Crescent
  • The Red Crystal (either with or without a Star of David in the center)
It is required to be neutral while wearing or displaying any of these, and committing acts of war while doing so is itself a war crime and allows the wearer/displayer to be freely shot at.

5) It is illegal to shoot at people or vehicles flying a white flag, as it shows a desire to surrender or communicate with the enemy. As with the protected symbols, the wearer is required to act neutrally while wearing or displaying a white flag.

6) If a person is protected from the laws of war (such as a doctor or civilian), using them as a human shield or camouflage is a war crime.

Dota 2 - Easy way to Increase your MMR

Pick what you feel good with. Comfort picks are way better than counter picks. People usually try to counter the opponent picks, which is a huge mistake in this bracket. Why? Almost always people play the countering hero wrong. They are on the wrong side of the map, doing wrong things, disabling their allies by taking their job, etc. It's like playing 4v6. I really can't emphasize it more: COMFORT PICKS are the ones you should go for.

Dead Hand Gameplay Fundamentals and Tactics

Commentary, tips and tricks on Dead Hand gameplay fundamentals. Guaranteed to make your first forays into the game a bit more successful.

Introduction

After seeing one too many gameplay video of the player being a sitting duck in the open trading shots until he gets killed, never bothering to heal; or firing at enemies' chassis and weapons (or even at walls!) and then complaining that they take too long too die; I've decided to write a short guide explaining some of Dead Hand gameplay basics.

[Infectonator 3: Apocalypse] Basic Tips & Tricks Guide

As of now there is no Guide at all, and many people seem to struggle to some extent to get their first or second Victory, so I thought it would be nice to compile a List of helpful Tip's and Tricks for everyone starting out and not really sure what to do and when to optimize what.
So let's get going infecting some people shall we?

General Tips

  1. Once you've got a first hold on the world and some money back to the Lab, you should always have a stocked Inventory. No need for perfect compositions, just some Bombs, some Goo and 3-5 Zombies of any kind, so if anything goes awefully wrong, you can compensate on a momens notice.
  2. Don't be sparse with Consumables once you Encounter the First Z.I.T. Units. You get enough money by this point to use 2-3 Items per Map consistently and still make enough money for Research.
  3. You can open and close doors by clicking on the Yellow Icon.
  4. If you just need some more time to use Items, you can close all doors to an empty room and spawn a Zombie in it.
  5. ALWAYS try to fully clear your Levels. You get a Bonus of 4 Random Items, ranging from some Gold to ANY kind of Zombie in up to a 3-pack you've unlocked by then.
  6. BUT: Don't overexert your Resources. Especially Early on, Money is precious, don't waste 5 Items and all your Zombies because you're starting infection failed completely. No Shame in calling it quits and preserving some Resources for a better Level.
  7. Never use Basic Zombies for Inventory, as it is needed for any and all upgrades. Take spare special zombies with you!
  8. Infected Areas in the World will generate Basic Zombies for you. The more Areas you have already infected, and the higher their respective infection level, the more you generate.
  9. Infecting everything a bit instead of pushing one specific City to Eradication gives you more time until the World get's harder, as Panic builds up much slower in lower Infection Rates than in Higher.
  10. You don't need to instantly start a mission, you can also just sit on the World Map and Speed up the Game (Top right corner) to generate Zombies for you.
  11. Try to push every Research facility to Eradication once you got to them, but don't be afraid to do another City first to get some money before making the final Push!
  12. BUT: Beware! Research is still done whilst waiting on the World-map!
  13. Every Continent has a Boss. Killing him will double the Infection Rate (The bar filling until you can eradicate a City), therefor halving the amount of levels you need to do to destroy a research facility.
  14. Boss-Level gain all external Help, so better do them sooner rather than later, as they get exponentially harder!

Investments

All Zombie Types have Base-Stats, which are altered by Basic Research. Some Zombies can't infect, others don't even attack people, and Research won't change their Base-Stats or Behavior!
  1. Infection Chance is at all Stages KING. If you can't turn people, you are effectively conquering the World with 4 Zombies per Level.
  2. At the Start you want to push Lifespan and Speed. A Zombie who can be outrun can't infect anybody, and If he dies after 5 Seconds he might as well not have been there.
  3. Once the first Armament Rolls out, Defense gets important REALLY FAST. Attack should be pushed alongside, otherwise you can't kill anybody anymore at the same pace.
  4. Mutation Chance gains Value based on your DNA Configuration. If you only got Crap Zombies unlocked, you might as well don't bother skilling it at all early on. If / Once you've got a nice Setup, Mutation Chance wins the Maps for you.

DNA-Upgrades will define the way you play the Game, so choose them carefully!
  1. Always make the most of your DNA, you won't get much. Reshuffling ONLY in absolute WORST case!
  2. Base-Stat Enhancements look juicy, but they gain far more Value over time once the modifiers get multiplied by high Research Stats, and are early on mostly outclassed by them, as Skilling Attack in the Research ONCE get's you multiple times more for the first half of the Game.
  3. SINGLE EXCEPTION: Sight. Strongest Stat in the Game, always Skill as soon as you get the Chance!
  4. Most Zombie-Type unlocks not only unlock the Zombie Type they describe, but also any Mix of it and all the ones you already have. Bear in mind what you already have, and want to push later on!

Research amplfiies your Zombie's Stats by a factor X, but if you got 0 Stats, the Result is still 0 even if the Factor is a million!
  1. Always Focus on Leveling your Basic Zombie, as well as your Unique ones. They make up 85% of your Map and Strategy.
  2. Don't forget to upgrade the Rest of the Zombies. If you mutate a Civilian into a Berserker, which in your Lab is Level 1, it will BE Level 1. If he is already at 5, we will whoop some ass instead keeling over.
  3. NEVER Level the following Zombie Types: Coin-Collector, Zomblins, Clown. They Exist for their Specials, which don't scale with Level.

Unique Zombies:
  • Kruggy - Spawn 100 Zombies
  • Jayson - Kill 250 Humans
  • Mummy - 100 Kills in the Desert (Middle-East Area, Rambeau Boss)
  • Yeti - 100 Kills in the Snow (Russia and some close ones to it)
  • Goben - Spend X Coins (no idea how much anymore, comes naturally)
  • Draculo - XX Kills with Vampire Zombies (50 I believe)
  • Alien - Unlock spitting, venomous and leaping Zombies (DNA)
  • Doomon - Destroy a continent
  • Drumpf - Kill Drumpf (USA Boss)

Setups

Personal Preference:
  1. Grenade
  2. Mines
  3. Cannister (Secondary)
  4. Goo
  5. Stalker (3x)
  6. Yeti
  7. Kruggy
  8. Mummy (Early on: Jayson)
Creating a Pocket Infection in some remote Building or secluded Area, I protect the Horde from the Initial Contact Burst with Yeti, put Kruggy into them, and once colliding with the masses, spawn Mummy in the midst to overthrow and infect everything. The resulting horde mostly clears the Map itself, only needing help with Z.I.T. (Sometimes not) or any absolutely secluded people in other Buildings.

The Stalker is a personal Preference for worst case scenarios (As once you get the sight upgrade, he feels like a homing Infection on crack, finding everyone everywhere as long as there is a path to it), but If you are confident in your skills and got a maxed out Inventory, you might as well take Jayson instead for the Attack Damage Boost against Z.I.T. Units.

[BATTLETECH] General Gameplay & Tactics Guide

If you like Brute Forcing everything, this guide is not for you. However having tried different playstyles I can probably say that this is the most efficient tips I can give. This is not a starter guide, rather a compilation of tips. At most it will have a recap but no in depth explanation of mechanics and only uses rough and comparative estimates. It will most likely benefit players already familiar to some of the basic mechanics in the game.

[Welcome to the Game II] Quick Guide

This guide will help you get started with Welcome to the Game II, by explaining to you the basic concepts and strategies of the game.

Introduction

Now before we start, let's all come to agree that this game is far more harder than its predecessor, and the fact that no one is making any real progress really stumps everyone what what we're supposed to do. This guide will serve to help you, based off of everything I've come to learn during my own gameplay experience, as well as watching other streamers play the game.
Also, if you have any other troubles that my guide doesn't end up fixing for you, feel free to add me and we can try to solve whatever issues you may be having to the best of our abilities. (I plan on adding screenshots in the near future in order to make it easier to understand what it is that I'm talking about)

P.S.: One of the first things you want to do when loading up a new save is obtaining the flashlight (in the situation that the power goes out on your floor). The flashlight can be located on the nightstand next to the bed. Once you pick up the flashlight, in order to turn it on all you need to do is push F and you should be set for whenever the power goes out.
